Connecting Past and Present
the Baysville Horticultural Society
Growing Beauty. Building Community.
Since 1963, the Baysville Horticultural Society has been helping make Baysville a more beautiful place to live, work, and visit.
Our members share a passion for gardening, environmental stewardship, and building a stronger community through beautiful public spaces and engaging local events.
From planting and maintaining public gardens to hosting educational programs, supporting community projects, managing the Baysville Community Gardens, and presenting the annual Baysville Arts & Crafts Festival, we're proud to help keep Baysville vibrant, welcoming, and in bloom.
Whether you're an experienced gardener or simply enjoy beautiful green spaces, we'd love to welcome you as a member, volunteer, or supporter.
The Baysville Horticultural Society cares for and enhances many of the beautiful public gardens enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout our community, including:
Centennial Park
Grist Mill Park
Van Seters Park
Robertson Parkette
Baysville Riverfront Gardens
What We Do
In addition to maintaining these public spaces, we:
Host educational gardening programs and guest speakers.
Manage the Baysville Community Gardens.
Organise community beautification projects.
Present the annual Baysville Arts & Crafts Festival.
Encourage environmental stewardship throughout our community.
Together, we're helping Baysville bloom for future generations.
The Baysville Horticultural Society maintains the beautiful gardens in Centennial Park, Grist Mill Park, Van Seters Park, Robertson Parkette, and the Baysville Riverfront Gardens, helping create colourful, welcoming spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the growing season.
Our Roots
The Baysville Horticultural Society was founded in 1963 by Beatrice Purens and a dedicated group of local gardeners who shared a vision of making Baysville a greener and more beautiful community.
More than sixty years later, that vision continues to inspire everything we do. What began as a small community gardening initiative has grown into an active volunteer organisation that maintains public gardens, supports environmental stewardship, offers educational programs, leads community projects, and presents one of Muskoka's most popular summer events, the Baysville Arts & Crafts Festival.
As our community has grown, so has our role. Today, the Society continues to build on its proud history by connecting people through gardening, volunteering, education, and community events that help keep Baysville flourishing.
